Quick one for you: BusOva has private messaging between members, and we've just made it a lot more obvious when someone has sent you something.
How private messaging works
If you'd like to ask another member about a bus they've spotted, compliment a great photo, or just say hello, you can message them directly. Open their member profile (click any member name anywhere on the site), and you'll find a Message button on their card. Click it, type your message, hit send, and you've started a conversation that both of you can reply to.
All of your conversations live in one place: Account → Messages. The sidebar shows everyone you've spoken to, most recent at the top, with a small preview of the last message and a blue dot if there's something unread.
You won't miss a message
The big change: a small red counter now appears next to the Account menu in the navbar on every page when you've got unread messages. Open the menu and you'll also see "Messages" with the unread count right next to it. Open the conversation and it's marked as read automatically, and the counter goes away.
You're in full control
Messaging is on by default, but you can turn it off whenever you like. Inside the Messages page there's a Messaging On / Messaging Off toggle at the top right. If you turn it off, nobody can send you new messages and existing conversations become read-only on your side. You can flip it back on at any time.
If a conversation has run its course, you can also delete it from your inbox using the bin icon at the top of the thread.
A few small rules
- You can't message yourself (sorry).
- You can't message someone who has disabled messaging on their account.
- Each message can be up to 5000 characters.
Happy chatting!
