BusOva update - profiles, photos and achievements

Here’s a quick rundown of what changed today on BusOva, focused on things you can actually see and use.

New member profiles

Your profile page has had a refresh to make it easier to see what you have done on the site.

  • New tab layout:
  • Activity - a feed of what you have been up to (buses added, favourites, comments on your buses, suggested edits).
  • Photos - a grid of photos from the buses you have added.
  • Favourites - your favourite buses, operators and manufacturers, where you have chosen to share them.
  • Bus Collection - a tidy list of the buses you have added.
  • Cards & Achievements - cards you have unlocked based on how active you are.
  • The stats bar at the top is clearer:

  • Member Since
  • Enthusiast Since (where you have filled this in)
  • The sidebar now shows:

All of this respects your existing privacy settings. If you have chosen to hide something, it stays hidden.

Activity wall

The Activity tab is now more readable and more useful.

  • It shows things like:
  • "X just added a new bus ..."
  • "X just favourited bus ..."
  • "X just commented on bus ..."
  • "X just suggested an edit for bus ..."
  • Bus registrations are shown using the yellow UK number plate styling and are clickable.
  • Dates and times are smaller so the actual activity stands out more.

Photos - smoother viewing

The Photos tab on your profile now behaves much more like a proper gallery.

  • It pulls in photos from all buses you have added (up to 10 photos per bus).
  • They are shown in a simple grid with pagination if you have a lot.
  • Clicking a thumbnail opens a dark, full width modal:
  • The yellow UK registration plate appears at the top.
  • You can move left and right between photos with arrow buttons.
  • There is a "View Bus" button and the date under the photo.

If you do not have any photos yet, there is a short message that points you to Add Bus and My Buses so you know how to get started.

Public favourites

Your public favourites are now grouped and explained a bit better.

  • Favourite Buses - up to 9 of your most recent
  • Favourite Operators - up to 6 of your most recent
  • Favourite Manufacturers - up to 3 of your most recent

Each section has a clear heading and icon so you can see at a glance what you are looking at. There is also a short note explaining that this is a selection of your most recent favourites, not the full list.

Cards and achievements

We now have a cards system that rewards you for being active.

- Cards can be based on things like:

  • How many buses you have added

- Coming soon!

  • How many photos you have uploaded
  • How many comments you have made
  • How many favourites you have added

On your profile you will now see:

  • Unlocked cards - full colour images with their name, description and the requirement you met.
  • Locked cards - greyed out with a small progress bar that shows how close you are to unlocking each one.

It should give you a clear sense of progress and a few goals to aim for if you enjoy completing sets.
